The two lions that actually live on the university campus. The woman there had been with the lions since the original one, Leo, was first first there around 30 years ago. They now have Leo the Third and his mate.

Memorial Weekend - trip to Mr. Smith's family

Thursday we packed up, left Burnt Toast with Christina and set off to Alabama to visit the outlaws. It was a 7 hour drive, but the boys watched dvd's all the way and we didnt hear a peep from them. We stopped at 'Cracker Barrel', a southern chain restaurant, which was actually the first restaurant in America I ever ate in, many years ago on my first trip here, but it was the worst meal ever and so we have renamed it 'Crapper Barrel'. After a night at Mimi's (Mr.Smith's Mum) and Grandpa Dans in Alabama, we drove to Mississippi to visit Granmama, Mr Smith's paternal grandmother.
We had a lovely afternoon at Alan and Melinda's, with Nathan and Kathy, two of their three children, and Kathy's friend David. They had a pool on their land and a stable with miniature horses and some crazy dogs, Toby, Sarah and Holly. Mr Smith's Dad, Grandaddy, and the gorgeous Grandmother Buff met us at their house and we had dinner.
We stayed in a hotel that night and went back to Mimi and Grandpa Dan's for the weekend. Chris and Scott came, Mr Smith's brothers, with their wives and children, so for once the boys got to see all their American cousins. The boys enjoyed the pool at the Country Club and the skateboard park and tennis. Saturday we all went out for Mexican and took Granny, Mr Smith's maternal grandmother, and Ethan got lucky on the teddy bear grabber machine. On Sunday we celebrated Halee's 12 birthday a few days early and had a bbq. Granny came and also Sue and JT, D's brother and sister-in-law.
Monday we left about 1pm after raiding Mimi's garden for shrub cuttings, and came back home. Going to put some photos on in just a bit.
